Overview
If you’ve already created a dashboard that you love — with the perfect charts, filters, and layout — you can easily reuse it to generate new dashboards with updated data. This feature is especially useful for recurring reporting cycles such as:- Daily or weekly sales reports
- Monthly performance dashboards
- Regular inventory or finance updates

When to Use Reuse Dashboard
Use Reuse Dashboard when:- You regularly receive updated data files with the same structure (e.g., same columns, headers, and types).
- You want to quickly refresh your dashboard visuals without rebuilding from scratch.
- You need to maintain consistency across multiple reporting periods.
How It Works
When you reuse an existing dashboard as a template, Bricks uses your existing dashboard layout as a template, replacing the data with a new dataset you select. Your charts, filters, and visual layout remain the same — only the values are updated from the new data.Steps to Reuse a Dashboard
- Open the existing dashboard you want to reuse
- Click Actions from left navigation panel
- Select Reuse dashboard
- Choose your new data — this can be a new file or an updated dataset
- Bricks will automatically create a new dashboard in a new file, using the same layout, charts, and configuration as your previous dashboard

Important Notes
-
The new dataset must have the same structure as the original one — column headers and data types should match
Example: If your original dashboard was based on columns like
Date,Region, andSales, your new file must also contain these exact column headers. - If the structure differs, Bricks may not be able to map the data correctly to existing visuals
- The new dashboard will be saved as a separate file, keeping your original dashboard intact
Benefits of Reusing Dashboards
- Saves time: No need to rebuild visualizations every time data updates
- Ensures consistency: Keep the same design and chart configurations across reports
- Easy comparisons: Maintain a uniform dashboard structure for time-based reporting (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Error-free updates: Reduces chances of misaligned charts or manual setup errors
Best Practices
- Always verify that new data has identical headers before reusing dashboards
- Use clear and consistent file names (e.g.,
Sales_Report_Jan,Sales_Report_Feb) - Keep a “template dashboard” file ready for future reuse
- After reusing, review key metrics to ensure data mapping is correct
